Opening And Closing Videos For Clips

September 21, 2026

You can now add a client's own opening or closing video to any clip, so every export starts or ends on their branding without you touching another app.

What it is

Opening and closing videos are a client's own animation, sting or end card. Upload it once to that client's folder in Social > Accounts, then choose it in the clip editor's Opening and closing step. It shows up as a thumbnail you can play back, rename or delete, and clicking it puts it on the clip. Click it again to take it off.

The problem it removes

Right now you probably add a client's intro or outro later, in another editor, on every single clip. That is one more app, one more export, one more chance the wrong version sneaks in. With opening and closing videos, the sting lives with the client and gets added inside ScriptCut, in the same step where you already build the clip.

How it works

Say a coffee brand has a five second logo sting. Upload it once to their client folder. From then on, every clip you cut for that client offers it in the Opening and closing step. Add it to the front, the back, or both, since the same file can open and close one clip, which is exactly what a logo sting is for. The clip's timeline shows the finished order with each part at its real length, so you always see what you are exporting before you export it.

If the sting's shape does not match the clip, ScriptCut letterboxes it rather than stretching it, so it never looks warped. A silent one joins in without cutting into the clip's own sound. This step is there for every project, not just client work: a project with no client uses its own small library, so you can put your own sting on a one-off clip without setting up a client folder first.

Where it lives

A client's opening and closing videos are offered on every project filed under that client, including projects inside a campaign folder, and never show up on another client's projects. They use the account's own storage like any other upload, and you manage them the same way as B-roll, music or logos: through Upload or Add from Gallery in the clip editor's Inspector, or on the Media Gallery page itself.

Who this helps

Agencies and freelance editors juggling several clients get the most out of this: upload each client's sting once and it is ready on every clip you cut for them from then on. Podcast producers and anyone making recurring social content also gain, since a consistent open or close is one less thing to remember per export.

frequently asked questions

Opening And Closing Videos For Clips FAQs

Where do I upload a client's opening or closing video?

Upload it once to that client's folder in Social > Accounts, and it becomes available in the Opening and closing step for every project filed under that client.

Can the same video open and close a clip?

Yes, the same file can be used on both the front and the back of one clip, which is how most logo stings are used.

What if I'm working on a project with no client attached?

The Opening and closing step is available on every project. If it has no client, it uses that project's own small library, so you can add a sting without setting up a client folder first.

What happens if my sting's shape does not match the clip?

ScriptCut letterboxes it rather than stretching it, so it keeps its original proportions in the finished export.

Will an opening video with no sound mess up my clip's audio?

No, a silent opening or closing video is joined in without breaking or overlapping the clip's own sound.

Can I reuse the same sting across different projects for one client?

Yes, once it's in that client's folder it shows up on every project filed under that client, including projects inside a campaign folder.

How do I remove an opening or closing video from a clip?

Click its thumbnail again in the Opening and closing step to take it off; this only affects that clip, the file stays in the client's library.
