Set Account Wide Rules For Client Links

September 21, 2026

You can now set house rules for every client link your account sends, from one screen, instead of checking each project by hand.

What It Is

Client view, in Settings, holds the default behavior for every link type: review links, presentation links and social links. Set the rules once and they apply account-wide, so you stop worrying about whether a project you shared last month is still open the way you meant it to be.

The Problem It Removes

Before this, keeping links consistent meant remembering what you set on each project. One client might get timecodes, another might not, just because you forgot to switch something. Client view gives you one place to decide what clients see and do, every time.

How It Works

  • Require an email: the client types their name and an email address before a link opens, useful when you need to know who actually reviewed a cut.
  • Links expire: set a number of days after which new links stop working. Zero means never. Links you already sent keep working even if you turn this on later, so nothing you shared in the past suddenly breaks.
  • Timecodes: show or hide the source timecode next to each line, handy when a client only needs the story, not the source footage details.
  • Older versions: let a client browse earlier rounds of a project, or lock them to only the version you just sent.
  • First screen: choose whether a review-link client lands on Select or on Review when they open a link.

Say an agency sends a rough cut to a coffee brand for approval. With Client view, every link the agency sends that client requires an email up front, hides timecodes so the review stays focused on the story, and expires after a set number of days so an old link from a past campaign can't be reopened by mistake.

Review links keep three settings you can still change per project from that project's Shared Link Settings: download exports, rename speakers, and use AI. Everything else, including email requirements, expiry, timecodes, older versions, presentation approvals and notes, and social link permissions, is account-wide only.

Who It Helps

This is for anyone sending links out regularly: agencies managing several clients at once, producers who need to know who reviewed a cut, and marketers who want every shared link to behave the same way without checking settings project by project.

Set your house rules once in Client view and every link you send from ScriptCut follows them.

frequently asked questions

Set Account Wide Rules For Client Links FAQs

Do these rules apply to links I already sent?

Turning on expiry only affects new links going forward. Links you already sent keep working, so switching this on can never close something that is already out there.

Can I still customize a single project's link?

Yes, for review links you can still change download exports, rename speakers, and use AI on a single project from its Shared Link Settings. Everything else is account-wide only.

What happens if I set expiry to 0 days?

Zero means links never expire.

Can I hide timecodes from clients?

Yes, the What a client sees group lets you show or hide the source timecode beside every line, account-wide.

Can I stop a client from seeing older versions of a project?

Yes, the Older versions setting lets you allow a client to open earlier rounds or restrict them to only the version you sent.

Where do I set the first screen a client lands on?

In Client view under Review links, you choose whether review-link clients land on Select or on Review when they open a link.

Does requiring an email apply to all link types?

Every link and Social links both include an email requirement option, so you can require it broadly or specifically for social links.
